Bikini Names

There are various types of bikini swimwear and their names are as interesting and exciting as the bathing suits themselves. The general term for these sexy two-piece garments comes from the Bikini Atoll of the South Pacific. During the time that Louis Reard introduced this apparel to the public in a fashion show, the rest of the world was in awe of the power of the atomic bomb that was being tested in the Bikini Atoll in Marshall Islands.

Different styles for a two-piece

Today, there are different variants of the bikini. From a two-piece that provides a decent covering, this evolved into various types of beachwear with some covering almost nothing. Microkini

As the name implies, this provides very little covering. The fabric is enough only to cover the genitalia and a very small area of each breast. According to some accounts, the first micro was created during the ’70s in a certain beach in California where nudity was banned. Some people created sexy bikini bottoms so they can expose much to enable them to have a tan all over, yet would still allow them to legally strut around the beach.

String bikini

String swimwear provides more coverage than the micro. The name came from the style of the beachwear. The bottom is basically triangular pieces of clothing that covers the front and the back and are connected with strings. The top is also supported by thin strips of fabric that are tied around the bust and neck.

Tankini

A tankini provides wider coverage for your upper torso. This piece is ideal for you if you want to reveal less. It is also best for those who are not confident to showcase their abs. Although this covers a lot, you can still look sexy with this if you know how to choose the bottom that would complement this top.

Different materials used

Aside from the cut, the materials of a modern swimsuit also comes in a wide variety.
